1349 formed in 1997 and includes several members of the former band Alvheim. Drummer Frost is also a member of Satyricon (band). The band plays a cover of Mayhem's Buried by Time and Dust on their first album, Liberation. 1349's tours take place regularly. The band's live shows often begin with Frost and guitarist Archaon breathing fire. In 2006, 1349 embarked on an American tour with Celtic Frost. Ravn also appears on Celtic Frost's album Monotheist (2006), taking part in the bonus song Temple of Depression. In 2007, at the Hellfest festival, 1349 was scheduled to play during the day, but the band asked to play in the dark.
