Fight is the first solo project of Rob Halford, which he formed shortly after leaving the heavy metal band Judas Priest in 1992, of which he was the singer and leader. The music of this new project is more aggressive and closer to that practiced by Pantera or Machine Head than to his previous band. Judas Priest drummer Scott Travis joined him for the project. The lineup was completed with Russ Parrish on guitar, Brian Tilse on guitar and keyboards, and Jay Jay on bass. After forming, the band released its first studio album, titled War of Words, the following year, in 1993, on the label Epic Records. The album reached the music charts and was relatively well received by the specialized press. It sold a total of more than 223,902 copies in the United States.
