Dare

Dare was formed in 1985 by Darren Wharton, former keyboardist of Thin Lizzy, after the dissolution of the band by Phil Lynott. By 1987, Dare had already won over a local audience in Oldham and had signed a four-year contract with A&M Records. The band's first album, Out of the Silence, was released in 1988. It was recorded in Los Angeles, at the private studio of singer Joni Mitchell in Beverly Hills. The lineup consisted of Darren Wharton (vocals/keyboards), Vinny Burns (guitars), Martin « Shelley » Shelton (bass), James Ross (drums) and Brian Cox (keyboards).
