Morgul is a Norwegian Progressive Black band formed in 1991 in Sarpsborg, Østfold. The band's name comes from Minas Morgul ("Tower of Sorcery" in Sindarin), also known by its former name of Minas Ithil ("Tower of the Moon") or "Dead City", an imaginary city in the Middle-earth universe of the novelist J. R. R. Tolkien. The band recorded its first album, Lost in Shadows Grey, in 1997; four more albums would follow until 2005.
