Pretty Maids

Pretty Maids was founded in 1981 by two friends, Ken Hammer and Ronnie Atkins, in Horsens, Denmark. These two musicians, co-writers of the songs, would be found in all the different line-ups of Pretty Maids. Pretty Maids was first a cover band named Pretty Pretty Panick, then they began writing their own songs, and a self-financed demo enabled them to land a contract with Bullet Records. In 1983, the band released its first self-titled EP and embarked on a British tour that same year, which was very successful. Inevitably the band became too big for their label; in 1984, they signed with CBS Records, which re-released their self-titled EP. In 1984, the band released its first album, Red, Hot and Heavy, which was a success. The following one, Future World, released in 1987, was even more so.
