GWAR

Gwar comes from two projects merged into one. Dave Brockie was the singer and bassist of a punk band called Death Piggy. Bands occasionally rehearsed at the Richmond Dairy, a deserted bottling company formerly controlled by hippies. The hippies rented the premises to artists and musicians. It was at the Richmond Dairy that Death Piggy met Hunter Jackson (Techno Destructo) and Chuck Varga (Sexecutioner), both students at Virginia Commonwealth University who had started The Slave Pit, a small production space for a film they were trying to create, Scumdogs of the Universe.
