James Murphy

James Murphy is an American death metal guitarist born on 30 July 1967 in Portsmouth, Virginia. His many albums, some of which left their mark on thrash and death metal, demonstrate great virtuosity and an impressive mastery of sweeping. His guitar solos on the albums by Death, Obituary, Cancer and Disincarnate that he took part in helped make these records death metal benchmarks. However, serious health problems kept him away from studios and concert stages. James Murphy is also a sound engineer and producer.
