In late 2002, Javier Jiménez and Rubén Villanueva (guitars) decided to start a band. They counted on Daniel Melián, who is a bassist. Ebony Ark was close to being born… The band's lineup was unstable until Beatriz Albert (vocals) and Jorge Sáez (drums) joined them. They made their first demo in March 2004, containing 6 tracks, one of them a cover of Irene Cara: "What a feeling". A few months later, Javier Díez joined the band as pianist. In October 2004, Ebony Ark made its first studio album: "Decoder". Decoder as well as their stage performances received good reviews. Ebony Ark began to find its place in the international metal world.
