WebsiteSortilège is a French heavy metal and power metal band, originally from Paris. The band's musical style sits somewhere between Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. The band split up in 1986 and reformed thirty-three years later in 2019. The band, then named Blood Wave, formed in 1980 with Jean-Philippe Dumont on drums as well as Stéphane Dumont and Didier Demajean on guitars. In 1981, the band renamed itself Sortilège and recruited Christian Augustin on vocals and Daniel Lapp on bass. The band played numerous concerts in France and opened for the English band Def Leppard at the Bataclan on 8 March 1983. Yet the band did not find a record label in France and signed with the Dutch label Rave-on Records.
