Rotting Christ

Rotting Christ ("Rotting Christ") was founded in Athens in 1987. In its early days, the band operated in a rather primitive black metal register, mainly influenced by Bathory, Venom and Celtic Frost. Over the years its music became more melodic and more atmospheric by incorporating elements close to gothic metal. Paradoxically, its early albums seem to have made more of an impression on the fans. Rotting Christ is, along with Septic Flesh, one of the two flagship bands of the Greek metal scene.
