Angel Witch

Angel Witch was formed in 1978 in London; the band was part of the NWOBHM wave. Created first under the name Lucifer with Kevin Heybourne, Rob Dowing, Steve Jones and Barry Clements, the band split with the departure of Barry Clements and Steve Jones, who left to create the band Speed with Bruce Dickinson. The remaining members formed Angel Witch with Kevin Riddles and Dave Hogg. In '79 it was Rob Dowing who left the band. The track "Baphomet", included on a compilation "Metal For Muthas", allowed the band to attract the interest of labels and media. Their first eponymous album "Angel Witch" came out in 1980 on the Bronze label. But after its release, Riddles and Hogg left to join Tytan. Heybourne continued for some time with other members and then joined Deep Machine.
