Le Grand Guignol

The band started in 1996 under the name Dregoth, under which they recorded the demo Codex Nocturnus. The following year, it changed its name to Vindsval. In 1997, Vindsval released the demo Of Heathen Blood and Soil and in 1999 the album Imperium Grotesque. Their current name, which the band adopted in 2006 to mark a fresh start after a long creative break, is inspired by the old French theatre of grotesque horror, the Grand-Guignol. In 2007, their one and only studio album under this name, The Great Maddening, was released and noticed by the international specialized press.
