Mayhem

Mayhem (which in English means disorder, mayhem, "mutilation of the human body" and "destruction") is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1984 by Euronymous, Necrobutcher and Manheim. Mayhem is now made up of Attila Csihar (alias Void) on vocals, Necrobutcher on bass and Hellhammer on drums. The band is regarded as one of the pioneers of black metal. Inspired by bands such as Venom, Celtic Frost and Bathory, Mayhem was founded in 1984. The band gave its first concert in 1985 and released its first demo in 1986, Pvre fvcking armageddon, pressed in 100 copies and characterized by a dirty, crackling sound typical of the first wave of Black Metal. From its beginnings the band asserted the morbid and dark themes that are still theirs today; the occult and satanism are recurring subjects in all their albums.
