Quiet Riot is a North American hard-rock band formed in 1973. The band was formed by Randy Rhoads and Kelly Garni under the name Mach 1, then Little Women. After numerous and classic musician changes, the band stabilized in 1975 with Kevin DuBrow and Drew Forsythe and renamed itself Quiet Riot. Often considered in the late 70s as one of Van Halen's most serious competitors, the band obtained a recording contract with Sony, but its first two albums were distributed only in Japan. The hiring in 1979 of Randy Rhoads by Ozzy Osbourne brought about the dissolution of the band, which survived only under the name DuBrow. The tragic and stupid death of Randy Rhoads would nevertheless give Kevin DuBrow the opportunity to relaunch his band's career. DuBrow obtained a contract in late 1982 with Pasha/CBS, and renamed himself Quiet Riot.
