Týr

Týr is a folk metal band from the Faroe Islands formed in 1998. Because the band's lyrics are inspired by the Vikings and Norse mythology, Týr is also considered a viking metal band. Before forming Týr, Joensen and Thomsen had formed their first band at the age of seventeen, Cruiser. Streymoy accompanied them for a short while. Cruiser later changed its name to Wolfgang. The band did not produce any album. Heri Joensen met Kári Streymoy at a party in Copenhagen, Denmark. Joensen proposed to Kári Streymoy that they start a band. Streymoy at first refused, then finally accepted. They were quickly joined by Gunnar H. Thomsen (bassist). The band's name comes from Týr, a god of Norse mythology.
