WebsiteMägo de Oz was created in 1989, in Madrid. The lineup came together little by little, but the Celtic leanings appeared very early, with the integration of a violin and a flute. In 1992, the band was a finalist in the Villa de Madrid rock contest. The first album, Mägo de Oz, came out two years later. The record met with good success. The lineup changed in 1996, with the arrival of José, the current singer. That same year, the band released its second album, a rock opera named Jesús de Chamberí. The record was followed by a major tour in Spain that greatly increased the band's popularity. The third album took Cervantes and Don Quixote as its theme. La Leyenda de La Mancha came out in 1998. The album of maturity for the band's leader, Txus. Mägo de Oz then took part in major festivals, with bands like Stratovarius or Angra.
