Ill Niño

Ill Niño took shape when drummer Dave Chavarri toured with Soulfly in 2000. He was captivated by the experience and at the end of the tour, he contacted Marc and Jardel to propose founding a melodic heavy nu metal band. The latter two agreed. After some searching, they chose a Brazilian native, Machado, as frontman. They completed the band with the arrival of bassist Lazaro Pina and percussionist Roger Vasquez. On the first EP, the band was called El Niño[1], before changing due to a band that already bore that name. Ill is a word for "sick" in English, and Niño for "child" in Spanish.
