Mama's Boys were a Northern Irish hard rock band formed in the late 1970s by three brothers, Pat (nicknamed "The Professor"), John and Tommy McManus. The trio became a quartet in 1987 with the arrival of Keith Murrell on vocals, replaced two years later by Mike Wilson. In 1978, the three McManus brothers, then fans of the Celtic rock band Horslips, decided to form their own band, Pulse. The line-up renamed itself Mama's Boys. This new name was suggested by Tony Price, a DJ at Radio Luxembourg, inspired by the youth and naivety of the three protagonists (Tommy was then only 13).
