Candlemass

Candlemass is a Swedish doom metal band formed in 1984 in Stockholm by Leif Edling, the band's leader and songwriter. Since its formation, the band has experienced several periods of inactivity and has seen its line-up change on several occasions. Candlemass is still active today. In 1982, Leif Edling formed the band Nemesis with Anders Wallin, Christian Weberyd and Anders Waltersson. That band released an EP, The Day of Retribution, as well as two demos. In 1984, the band was dissolved and Leif Edling formed Candlemass. In English, "Candlemas" is the feast known in French as la Chandeleur.
