Mortiis

Mortiis is a musical project by Håvard Ellefsen created in 1993 and based in Notodden, Norway, near Oslo in Telemark county. In the beginning, Mortiis was purely and simply a solo project of Håvard Ellefsen, who wished to convey a story through music. Then, over time, the project slowly transformed into a musical band. Sometimes as a band, sometimes solo, Håvard Ellefsen is the only constant member of the Mortiis project. This is how this name came to be both the name of the musical band and the pseudonym of Håvard Ellefsen. Mortiis comes from the Latin mortis meaning "mortal".
