Tourniquet is a Christian Progressive Thrash Metal band created by drummer Ted Kirkpatrick in 1990 in Los Angeles, United States. Their music is mainly characterized by Thrash, Neoclassical and progressive metal movements. Known mainly in the United States, and very little in France, the band has sold more than 300,000 albums since its creation. In 1994, Tourniquet abandoned its medical terminology in its lyrics, alternated its style with a more accessible heavy metal and hard rock sound, and released the album Vanishing Lessons. Erik Mendez left the band after the Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance tour, and, as a result, Vanishing Lessons was recorded by a Tourniquet made up of four members.
