Hypocrisy

Hypocrisy is a Swedish melodic death band founded in 1990 in Ludvika by and around its charismatic leader Peter Tägtgren. It is one of the leaders of the very prolific Scandinavian metal scene. In 1990, guitarist Peter Tägtgren returned from a stay of several months in Florida, one of the cradles of death metal, and decided to embark on a solo project, influenced by his idols, who include, among others, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death or Deicide. After recording his first demo entirely alone, Peter recruited singer Masse Broberg, guitarist Jonas Österberg, bassist Mikael Hedlund and Hungarian-born drummer Lars Szöke. This line-up recorded a first album in 1992 titled Penetralia', which synthesizes the aforementioned influences with an added Scandinavian melodic touch.
