WebsiteAccept is a German heavy metal band. It was founded by singer Udo Dirkschneider and by guitarist Michael Wagener (who has since become a producer). The band began under the name Band X, in 1968, before taking the name Accept, in 1971. It only started a professional career at the end of the 1970s. The band split up and reformed several times; most recently in 2009. It is notably recognized for having played an important role in the rise of speed metal, with their song "Fast as a Shark". The album Balls to the Wall, released in 1983, is seen as one of the classic records in metal history. The band enjoyed significant success during the 1980s. It is often considered the second important figure of German heavy metal, after Scorpions.
