Reckless

The band was originally founded by Steven Madden under the name Harlow, although the vocals were initially female. The band quickly changed its lineup and name because there was already an American band of the same name. Steve Madden (lead guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals), Jan Melanson (lead vocals), Gene Stout (bass, vocals) and Gil Roberts (drums, percussion) under the name Harlow. The combination of guitar-based commercial heavy metal in the Van Halen style characterized by Melanson's idiosyncratic voice led to a good reception from audiences. Coupled with the singer's bright blonde look, this seemed to give Reckless the chance to stand out from the crowd. However, the album failed and the band split up. A second attempt by Steve Madden with other musicians also failed.
