Fates Warning

Fates Warning is a heavy metal band from Connecticut (United States). Although their early albums may be perceived as following in the lineage of the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, the album Awaken the Guardian (1986) made Fates Warning a leading band of the progressive metal scene, alongside other influential acts such as Dream Theater or Queensryche. The first three albums were marked by the unusual vocal approach of singer John Arch and by lyrics of fantasy inspiration. From the fourth album onward, John Arch was replaced by Ray Alder and the lyrics became more introspective. Since the album Perfect Symmetry (1989), the band's music has taken the direction of progressive rock.
