Amaranthe

Formed in 2008 by Jake E (ex-Dream Evil) and Olof Mörck (of the bands Dragonland and Nightrage) under the name Avalanche, the founding members' new project really took shape when singer Elize Ryd, singer Andy Solveström and drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen joined them afterwards. During 2008, the band released a first 4-track demo on its MySpace, Leave Everything Behind, under the band name Avalanche. In 2009, the band changed its name to Amaranthe (the band name Avalanche already being officially in use by another band). There followed the recording of the EP Rain, which came out in early 2011; this release paved the way for the release of their self-titled album on 13 April 2011 (the band having been working on it since 2009).
