Charon

Charon is a Finnish gothic metal band, from Raahe. Charon was formed in 1992 by Antti Karihtala, Teemu Hautamäki, Pasi Sipilä, and Jasse Hast, originally as a brutal death metal band. The band later moved into heavy metal, with goth rock influences, based on a mix of melodies and atmospheres, thus creating a melancholic style of their own. After three promotional albums and two demos, all self-produced, the band concluded a first contract with Emanzipation Productions. Charon released their first album Sorrowburn in 1998. The next one, Tearstained, was released by the Danish label Diehard Records in 2000. After a tour with Sentenced in the spring of 2000, they signed with the heavy metal label Spinefarm Records.
