Website
Cirith Ungol is an American heavy metal band, originating from Ventura, California. They are considered a pioneering band of Epic doom and power metal. It takes its name from the work of J. R. R. Tolkien. The covers of the band's four albums use illustrations from the comic Elric of Melniboné. In 1982, a track by the band was released on the first volume of the compilation Metal Massacre. The band released four albums before splitting up in 1992. In 2015, members of the band made an appearance at the Frost and Fire festival, in Ventura, for an autograph session. A few months later, they announced their reformation for a concert at the 2016 edition of that same festival. The band is about to play for the first time in Europe on the occasion of the 2017 edition of the Keep It True festival, of which it is one of the headliners.
