Non Serviam

Non Serviam (from the Latin meaning "I will not serve", a phrase attributed to Lucifer) is a Swedish band founded in 1995 in Ale, Västra Götaland, out of the ashes of the band Carnack. The band released its first demo, The Witches Sabbath, in 1996. They recorded their first album, Between Light and Darkness, in 1997. Non Serviam was another Invasion Records band that tried to serve a number of the dominant trends of Scandinavian metal of the time, without falling too much into any single category. There is certainly a huge amount of Dark Tranquility or At the Gates in this first album, from the melodic riffs that strongly recall the former to the raspy lead vocals that resemble Lindberg.
