Arkona

Arkona (in Russian: Аркона) is a Russian pagan metal band. Their lyrics are inspired by Russian folklore and Slavic mythology. The band was founded in 2002 and has been signed since 2008 to the label Napalm Records. In 2002, members of a local pagan community, Maria Scream Arhipova and Alexandre Warlock Korolev, decided to form a band, based on their ideology and their musical tastes. The band was then called Hyperborea and consisted of: Maria / Masha Scream Arhipova (vocals), Eugene Knyazev (guitar), Eugene Borzov (bass), Ilya Bogatyriov (guitar), Alexander Warlock Korolev (drums) and Olga Loginova (keyboards). In February 2002, the band took the name Arkona. At the end of the year, they recorded a demo consisting of 3 tracks - "Kolyada", "Solntsevorot" and "Rus".
