Van Halen

Van Halen is an American hard rock band founded in 1972 in California. The band's guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, quickly became famous for his technical prowess and his musical sensibility. According to legend, Eddie worked as a paperboy to buy himself his drum kit. While Eddie was working, Alex practiced on the drums. When Eddie heard his brother play the drum solo of the song Wipe Out, Eddie decided to abandon the drums for the guitar. In elementary and middle school, Eddie and Alex formed at different times several bands with names such as "The Trojan Rubber Company", "The Broken Combs" and "The Space Brothers". The band that later evolved to become Van Halen. The band became popular on the Sunset Strip in the mid-1970s, playing in clubs like the Whiskey a Go Go.
