Between 1981 and 1982, pushed by his record label following his success with Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny and Gary US Bonds, he formed the band Disciples of Soul with Dino Danelli (drummer of The Rascals), Jean Beauvoir (bassist of the Plasmatics) and The Miami Horns.
