ADX

Founded in 1982, the band quickly gets noticed for a brilliant and original speed metal (all the more so since this style is then in its infancy), with lyrics inspired notably by the history of France and its classical literature, which gives the band a real personality. Among the themes addressed in the lyrics: the French Revolution and the Ancien Régime, the Marquis de Sade, Brocéliande and the Arthurian legend, Notre-Dame de Paris and Victor Hugo, etc. From the first listen, one recognizes the particular style of ADX. ADX takes its name from the old abbreviation of Acier DouX (mild steel) in metallurgy (cf interview of Betov on La Horde Noire), because the band, although producing powerful music, has always known how to be very melodic, notably in the guitar solos.
