Throes of Dawn

Throes of Dawn is a Finnish black metal band formed in 1994 by Henri Koivula and Jani Heinola. In its beginnings, the band moved rather within a black metal style, evolving over the course of its albums toward doom metal, influenced by musical genres such as psychedelic rock, dark wave, gothic rock, ambient and symphonic classical music. After solidifying its line-up, the band began recording its first demo tape. After the demo's release, the band signed with the label Woodcut Records in 1995. This contract led to the release of the promo Pakkasherra in 1996, which preceded the album Pakkasherra in 1997. Later that year, the band played in support of the black metal band Satyricon in Helsinki.
