Primus

Primus is an American rock band from El Sobrante, California. The line-up reached its peak in the 1990s. Primus's music is focused on the bass playing of Les Claypool, accompanied by his singing, a kind of "curious sideshow". The band currently consists of Les Claypool (singer/bassist), Larry "Ler" LaLonde (guitarist), and Tim "Herb" Alexander (drummer). Stylistically, the band navigates between heavy metal, psychedelic rock and funk, with notable jazz and blues influences in the musical structures. Playing at times on virtuosity or on simple and powerful rock patterns, Primus foregrounds strange atmospheres rich in dissonances.
