Michael Schenker, born on 10 January 1955 in Sarstedt, Germany, is a German hard rock and traditional heavy metal guitarist. He is the brother of Rudolf Schenker, a founding member of Scorpions, a band he joined in 1969 and left for UFO in 1972. In 1979, he founded his own band: Michael Schenker Group. He signed a contract with Chrysalis Records in the autumn of 1979. MSG is the abbreviated name of the band whose singers were Gary Barden (future Statetrooper), Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow, future Alcatrazz), Robin McAuley (ex-Grand Prix) until 1992. A very talented guitarist, Michael Schenker also showed instability throughout his career (mainly due to his drug and alcohol abuse). Currently, Michael Schenker is under contract with Dean Guitars.
