WebsiteWhite Zombie is an American industrial metal band formed in New York in 1985, then dissolved in 1998 by Rob Zombie to pursue a solo career. Rob Zombie began his career as a musician in 1985 by creating (with Sean Yseult, whom he would put on bass) the band White Zombie, a strange and hybrid outfit combining rock, punk and heavy metal. The band was influenced by Zombie's passion (first called Rob 'Dirt' Straker) for old horror films and the whole culture attached to them. It was moreover Rob Zombie, as leader, who took care of everything in the band: cover artwork design, videos, T-shirts, concerts, etc. Their first production "Gods On Voodoo Moon", a 4-track 7" single (Ltd. to 300 copies), came out in 1985 on the Silent Explosion label (created by the band), only after one month of formation. The early White Zombie has nothing to do with the one that became known.
