Robert Anthony Plant, born on 20 August 1948 in West Bromwich (United Kingdom), is a British singer and harmonica player whose international reputation was established with the rock band Led Zeppelin from its formation in 1968 until its dissolution in 1980. Author of most of the lyrics, he shares authorship of the vast majority of the songs in the band's original repertoire with guitarist Jimmy Page. Subsequently, his musical career unfolded as a solo artist, with Jimmy Page in the 1990s, and through various collaborations. The American magazine Rolling Stone ranks him 15th among the 100 greatest singers of all time.
