Ramones

Ramones is an American punk rock band, originally from New York. Formed in 1974, it is often cited as the first punk rock band. Although it had rather limited commercial success, the band had a great influence on punk and its offshoots. The members' look stands out for its minimalism and its scruffy appearance: long hair, black leather jacket, T-shirt, jeans torn at the knees, worn sneakers (Converse or Keds). The band members adopt pseudonyms ending with the name "Ramone". They gave 2,263 concerts, touring practically nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza festival, the band played one final concert before disbanding.
