Zoetrope

A thrash metal band from Chicago (Illinois), Zoetrope formed in 1976 around Barry Stern (vocals, drums), Kevin Michael Rasofsky (guitar) and Calvin Humphrey (bass), soon joined by a second guitarist, Ken Black. The first single was released in 1980. Following several demos, the band was signed by Combat Records and recorded its first LP, Amnesty, in 1985. Its successor, A Life of Crime produced by Randy Burns (Megadeth, Nuclear Assault), came out in 1987. During the recording sessions, Ken Black left the band and returned to Chicago to sort out his various addiction problems. He was replaced by Louis Svitek (Mind Funk, Ministry, Pigface...). During the tour that followed, the latter was recruited by MOD.
