Praying Mantis

Praying Mantis is an English hard rock and Heavy metal band founded in the mid-1970s by the Troy brothers. The band rose to prominence thanks to the explosion of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) in the early 1980s. After appearing on the Metal for Muthas compilation, the label Arista signed them to a contract, and the release of their first album Time Tells No Lies was well received by critics. Alas, line-up and management problems contributed to the band's break-up. In 1984, the Troy brothers formed a new band, Stratus, with Clive Burr, a former Iron Maiden member. Praying Mantis would reform in 1990.
