Impaler was an English death metal band from Leamington Spa founded in 1988 under the name Carnage and disbanded around 1992. The band played alongside bands such as Benediction, Carcass and Cancer throughout their career. The band formed in 1988 under the name Carnage. After releasing a few demos under that name, the band changed its name to Impaler in 1991 because they had signed a contract with Deaf Records. In 1992, the album Charnel Deity was released under the name Empaler. The band consisted of bassist and guitarist Chris Drew, drummer Nick Adams, guitarist Paul Mariotti and singer Edd. The recording took place at Mables Hut in Leamington Spa while it was mixed at Rhythm Studios in Feckenham. Then, the band split up.
