Dark Tranquillity

Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death band formed in Göteborg in 1989. Created under the name Septic Broiler in 1989 and initially playing thrash metal, the band took its current name after its first demo, Enfeebled Earth (1990), and turned towards non-linear death metal. In 1993, the lead singer, Anders Fridén, left the band to join In Flames. He was replaced by Mikael Stanne, who was in fact a former In Flames singer. At the same time, Fredrik Johansson was recruited as rhythm guitarist.
