Necrophagia is an American Death/Thrash Gore band formed in 1983 in Cleveland, Ohio. Necrophagia became popular in the underground scene and the extreme metal genre in the early 1980s. Their first album, Season of the Dead, was recorded and released in 1987. In 1990, they released Ready for Death, recorded in 1986, which was originally intended to be the first album. The band split up due to musical differences until 1997, when singer Killjoy decided to re-form the band with future Pantera singer Phil Anselmo (under the pseudonym Anton Crowley) on guitar, Wayne Fabra on drums, and Dustin Havnen on bass. This line-up released the album Holocausto de la Morte and the EP Black Blood Vomitorium.
