On February 19, 1980, Bon Scott, after a heavily drunken evening at a London club called the Music Machine, is said to have been driven home by a certain Alistair Kinnear, who had offered to take him back to his place. Bon Scott, asleep in a Renault 5, was, according to Kinnear's statements to the police, absolutely impossible to wake. Kinnear, rather than taking Bon home, reportedly decided to bring him to his own residence, hoping he would wake up during the journey. As the singer was still asleep upon arrival, Kinnear reportedly left him in the car, under a blanket, on Overhill Road in Dulwich. His death was due to asphyxiation caused by his own vomit.
