Jacob was found dead by suicide at his home in Kristineberg, Stockholm, on July 21, 2009. He was 45. Talisman singer Jeff Scott Soto issued the following statement: "It is with deep regret and remorse that I, along with the other members of Talisman, announce that our brother, longtime colleague and the greatest musician we have ever played with, Marcel Jacob, is no longer among us as of today, Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Marcel took his own life after many years of personal and health problems that he struggled with.
