Phil Lynott

In his last years, Lynott was addicted to drugs and alcohol, which led to his collapse on Christmas Day 1985 at his home in Kew. His wife Caroline drove him to a clinic near Warminster, where he was diagnosed with septicaemia. He died of heart failure due to pneumonia and septicaemia, in an intensive care unit, on 4 January 1986, at the age of 36.
