WebsiteThe band was founded in 1992. It was originally the solo project of guitarist Aphazel, but he was quickly joined by Grimm, the band's singer/drummer. The following year they released the demo Eerily Howling Winds, then the EP Det Glemte Riket in 1994. They would then sign a contract with the label Listenable Records, where they would release their first album, Svartalvheim. In 1995, Grimm left the band, shortly after the release of the EP Trolltaar. Aphazel then met Lord Kaiaphas of the band Grand Belial's Key, who would become the band's new singer/drummer. The new line-up then changed labels and signed a contract with Metal Blade Records, which would earn them accusations of wanting to take a commercial path, given the label's importance.
