Andrew W.K.

Andrew W.K. was born in Stanford, California. In 1983, Andrew and his family moved to Michigan, where he began learning the piano at the age of 4, then to the Greenhills School, which he entered at the age of 5 and where he studied classical music. It was in 1993 that he entered "Community High School" and studied jazz there for 4 years. After signing with Island/Def Jam in late 2000, he decided to form a band under his own name. The first recruit was Jimmy Coup, former singer and guitarist of the band The Coup De Grace. Andrew W.K. then wrote a letter to his favorite drummer, Donald Tardy, member of the band Obituary, but more or less expected a refusal from him. Andrew released his first album I Get Wet in December 2001.
