Angel Dust

The band was formed in Dortmund in 1984 with Frank Banx (real name Bankowski) on bass, Dirk Assmuth on drums, Andreas Lohrum on guitar, and Roman "Romme" Keymer on guitar and vocals. The musicians were then under twenty years old. A first demo came out in 1985 and the first album came out the following year. Into the Dark Past is a thrash album closer to the Californian scene than the German scene, with the exception of Exumer and Paradox, with speed metal overtones in the vein of Helloween or Agent Steel. The vocals are not screamed and are rather melodic. Still in 1986, Frank Banx left his other band, Crows, in which he had been playing since 1981. Roman Keymer joined Risk, a band formerly named Faithful Breath, as a guitarist.
